Join me for a visit to Washington's abandoned Conservatory.

It is always an exciting moment when a photographer discovers an abandoned building, a dilapidated house or a time ravished old car. Maybe it is the texture of abandoned objects that compels photographers to capture the scenes. Once you approach an amazing old conservatory like this one, you realize you are approaching a neglected bit of history. Mystery and Drama are your companions,
and the only question that remains is your approach to photographing the treasures.

It was a lot of fun photographing the Conservatory in Olympia, WA. We never know how long it will be with us. Enjoy!

This larger area is located to the left of the front entrance. Love those green lighting fixtures!

While some photographers might be lucky enough to have friends in high places and gain admittance, most of us will peer through windows and doors, and use a zoom lens like this 70-300mm IS Canon lens /with tripod.
The corner shot.

As I photographed the interiors, I was curious. Research tells me it was still open in 2007, and a video shows visitors walking through the displays of lush flowers and plants. Why was the beautiful glass Conservatory abandoned?  Probably $money$?  Lack of interest?

Details in the larger room. Totem poles?

I found this video of the Conservatory interiors on YouTube. It was posted by 4-H Network News in 2007: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fwlObAhVD_8

Not exactly Alice's rabbit hole, I was looking through a front door.

The larger Conservatory area room. A touch of sepia reminds us of its age.

An afternoon jogger makes his way around Capitol Lake. If he glances
to his left, he can view the glass Conservatory shining on the hill.

Thank you for stopping by the blog today.

I appreciate your interest and time very much.

And I would love to hear from you.

Happy Birthday to all my friends with August birthdays!
