How to Create an HDR Pano in Lightroom CC 2015

Creating an HDR Pano in Lightroom CC 2015 -  fast and easy

Bluesy Day in Olympia, WA - Lightroom CC 2015 + Photoshop CC 2014  (12 images = 4 HDR images merged for Pano.)

If you have successfully installed the

 Lightroom CC 2015 Version,

but you cannot locate the LR icon,

please read below:

The LR CC 2015 update was an easy install on the computer, but then I could not find an icon to launch LR.  So Frustrated!  So, I went to Help in Adobe's Chat Room. This was the launch date, and the wait was about 15 minutes.

(I subscribe to Adobe Creative Cloud and the $9.99 per month fee includes all updates and versions of Photoshop CC and Lightroom. Also, included are the free apps, Adobe CC and LR, for iPad and iPhone.)

Below is a section of the Chat conversation I had with Adobe. As I followed the instructions, Adobe stayed online with me. And then, LR worked beautifully. I have not had any more problems launching LR CC 2015! Hope this helps you.

btw, actual chat time: 00:50:51
Thanks, Adobe!

Creating an HDR Pano - faster and easier

using LR's latest version Lightroom CC 2015

 Where to Start?

MY WORKFLOW:  Saving and Finding:  I use the EOS Utility to download my images from the Canon Mark II into an external hard drive - and then - import that file into the LR catalog. Later, LR's catalogs and keywords provide the quick and easy access I need to locate a particular image in LR and on the hard drive.

The HDR PART:  Remember, LR lets you use Raw or Jpeg image adjustment. I shoot in Raw and save the master images in Tiff and Jpeg.

Out and about when I saw these great clouds, I did not have my tripod - but I grabbed the camera and shot by hand because I really wanted to try LR's new HDR Pano in CC 2015. I bracketed 3 images for each section of the pano.

1. I colored labeled each set of 3 (4 sets) images, and highlighted the first 3 images.

2. Top of Develop mode in LR:   Select: Photo
3. Photo Merge
4. HDR
5. Auto Align or Perspective below of your choice
6. Auto tone or not.

LR starts the process - and will show you the result.

7. Make the decision for final merge in HDR - you can choose not to Auto Tone - but I found for me that I liked this adjustment.
8. Click Merge

***The 12 images at the top of this post, Bluesy Day in Olympia, were processed in LR by 3 bracketed photos, and then each set was merged in HDR in LR CC 2015.

The final 4 HDR images were then merged in Lightroom's HDR Pano. Note: I prefer a darker image, so I added contrast and darkened the highlights in the Photoshop CC 2014. I always use Curves a few times as I process.

To create your final step, the LR HDR Panorama, highlight your HDR images, return again to Photo - Photo Merge - Panorama - and select your choice:

Auto Select Projections     or choose
Cylindrical or Perspective Try them out!
I chose Auto Select and Auto Crop for the cloud image - because - LR is nondestructive, so you can change the crop or any adjustment at any time.

So after reading about this process, and trying it, you may love it, use it, or not. Please note, that I chose to go the extra step and create an HDR Pano, you will be a much faster process if you create a Panoramic image without the HDR.
