Fast, Neat and Easy: How to Remove a Strawberry's Stem

Strawberry lovers hate to cut away any of the sweet delcious body of a fresh strawberry. So, if you are not already familar with the straw as a strawberry cutting tool, just take a look at the pictures below.

To save the fruit and achieve this stemless look, the pics below tell the story!
I ran across this idea on the web, and decided to give it a try in my kitchen! The pictures illustrate
"the Straw" technique for removing the strawberry's stem.

For my 1st try at this, I used a bowl of fresh organic strawberries shipped from California farms.

1 red straw (from Chevron)   :)
1 box of California organic strawberries

1 iPhone
Display: Fiesta plate

The inspiration for this post came from a status on Facebook from a friend who shared a pic and a recipe for Santa Claus Strawberries! Thanks, Judith! If you use this straw technique, you will retain a bit more strawberry to work with as you prepare this goodie for family and friends.

Putting a little spin on the straw.

Holding the strawberry frimly in one hand, insert a straw into the center
of the bottom of the strawberry.  Guide the straw to the center top, and the core and
stem will come out as one piece.

Sweet little red strawberry with the straw pushing the core and stem out of the fruit.

A display of the cores:  Don't think you will be doing this! :-)

Strawberries ready for slicing, snacking or creating a "Strawberry Santa Claus".

You're welcome ;) And thank you for the tip! I'd never heard of it or seen it done.
