f.1 Approaching the Cascade Mountains, Snoqualmie Pass.
Photography is a personal adventure, and sometimes there is satisfaction in whipping out the cell phone on your travels and clicking like crazy as the landscape flies by at 65 mph. You record the fleeting moments of your life that might otherwise be lost.

If you make the trip from Olympia to Yakima, traveling west to east in Washington State, you will enjoy those magnificent views in the Cascade Mountains. So, forget about the yakking on the cell phone, concentrate on the moment, and use your cell’s memo pad to record interesting place names and brief descriptions of your stops. Snoqualmie Pass introduces you to Tinkham Road, Iron Horse State Park, Elk Heights at 2359 ft., Manastash Ridge at 2600 ft., and Ellensburg, WA.
As you travel from Western Washington to Eastern Washington, you leave the sunny/partly cloudy skies of Olympia. As you continue your trek north in the sun along Highway 90 you start your climb through the Cascade Mountains via the Snoqualmie Pass. You are now entering the mountaineer’s world of capped craggy peaks, massive clouds and grey mist. (f 1)
Into the clouds, Cascade Mountains, Pacific Northwest, April 2010
Near the highest elevation of the pass, 3022 ft., a dense mass of super white clouds rolled in and covered the mountain peaks (f 2). Out of the darkness and misty rain, the clouds filled the grey sky. It was a moment to remember. I had this strong desire to stop the car, stop right in the middle of the road, whip out a tripod and take a picture of this beauty in front of me.

Go for the photographic moment, create your own backup for your memory - use the cell phone!
The Contrast!
But hang in there! Just as you think you have seen mother nature in her darkest mood, just as you think that there is no end to the closeness and the darkness of the mountain storm, you begin the journey down the mountain pass and into the valley, into the bright white light of the Yakima Valley (f 3).

Nice pictures! Especially considering they were taken with a cell phone. Looking forward to our Washington trip. Jean
