Welcome to The Creative Photography Blog!

The Creative Photography Blog will help you explore the world of digital photography.

The goal: I will create posts that will not only entertain you, but I will introduce you to the photo tips and personal connections that will promote your voice and personal style in the world of digital photography.

If you are a self-taught photographer, you always recognize that you are never alone in your photo trek. It is amazing how many people are out there ready to help you and share their expertise with you.
So, take the serious but fun approach to learning the art of photography: attend workshops: The Santa Fé Photographic Workshop; Rocky Mountain School of Photography; enroll in a college course, Photography 101; seek out amateur or professional photographers who will share their tips; and/or join your local camera club. These are a few of the places where you will meet the experienced photographers and instructors who share their time and knowledge helping those starting out on the photographic journey.

It won't be long before you realize you are now a part of the photography village, a group dedicated to pursuing the fine art of the image.

As your photo passion develops, you will discover that every day is a great day for photography, and if you are searching for the light and the path to better images, this blog may help you. Never forget to look up when you're shooting, and most importantly, turn around and look behind you!

At some point someone is going to ask, "Hey, what’s your favorite photograph?" You may want to use Imogen Cunningham's quick reply, "Which of my photographs is my favorite? The one I’m going to take tomorrow".

The Gear: Camera: Canon 5D EOS Mark II; recently added the Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 L IS USM Macro Lens. If you need a 1:1 magnification ratio and Image Stabilization, this is it. This lens is sharp! And with its excellent image quality, it serves well as a portrait lens. If you visit the portfolio, Flora, on the website, janiemcrae.com you can compare the first 11 flower images shot with this Macro 100mm to the images that follow shot with the Canon 70-300mm. You decide.
